Easy to Grow Plants - Large or Treelike - Rubber Plant

Rubber Plant - Ficus elastica

The Rubber Plant or Indian Rubber Tree is part of the Ficus family. This plant is very durable and easy to care for and does come in several varieties which are mostly some color variation. It usually grows anywhere from 1 to 2 feet tall and has large rubbery, glossy, oval leaves which measures about 4 to 6 inches.

Temperature & Humidity
The Snake Plant does best in high temperature but will tolerate average temperature. You must still let night temperature drop approximately 10F. It also prefers high humidity but will tolerate average humidity. You may mist early in the day to raise humidity.

Light

Although the Rubber Plant will tolerate low light, it prefers medium (bright indirect) light. If using artificial light, make sure it gets about 16 hours per day.

Water
The soil should be allowed to become fairly dry between waterings. Over-watering will cause the leaves to droop and fall off.

Fertilize with a mild, diluted fertilizer every two weeks. Make sure you clean the large leaves at least once a month.
